Fire Ban lifted

Lanark Highlands Fire Service is lifting its Township-wide Level 1 Fire Ban as of 9:00 am on Friday, August 24th.

Be advised that for open air fires, such as brush burning, they can only be lit two hours before sundown and must be extinguished no later than 2 hours after sunrise. This is Ontario Law during the burn season, which runs from April 1st to October 31st. The size of an open air fire cannot exceed 6.4 feet in height, and cannot be larger than 6.4 feet in diameter.

If you are going to have a campfire, remember to keep the size of your campfire no more than 1.5 feet in height and a diameter no larger than 3 feet.

Please do not leave any fire unattended, ensure there are no combustible materials within 10 feet of the fire, and have sufficient means to safely put the fire out.
