What would be a lake site without some photos or memories to share with others.
Memories from a summer at the lake are memories that last a lifetime.
This is what this site is about.
Our first offering is one of both historical significance and interesting
data for today’s hot discussions on lake levels and what they were in the good
old days. Have a look at an old postcard
of Patterson Lake. The vehicle is a 1934 Dodge and the family in the photo has not been
identified yet. The date of the photo is probably mid to late 30s and the season is late fall. The location of course is
the beach at Purdon’s Cottages at the west end of the
Lake. That same view is available today but without the trees in the foreground, and the
birches on the far shore are noticeably absent now as well. Have a look now at Purdon’s Beach, November 2003. Note the water level.
Despite memories that have the
water level from 2 to 4 feet lower, the water level looks remarkably the same now
as it did over 60 years ago in October/November time period.
